Beautiful Simplicity

Most of us who exercise outside now, are probably all too familiar with our route. I’m incredibly lucky to live in the beautiful village of Lavenham in Suffolk. The walks here are a peaceful and quintessentially English. There is never a day that goes by when I don’t appreciate that and think of those who are not so lucky. I try to take in my surroundings mindfully as much as possible, stopping and taking in the views, the wildlife and how the seasons change nature.

More than ever now, I notice the small stuff, the things that are right in front of me. I believe that every environment has something curious and fascinating about it, if we stop and look. Something to provoke our senses, our mindset. Walking is a moving meditation, and the key to meditation is to just let things be. To observe your thoughts but not to judge them, or analyse them. To see things through curiosity perhaps, but without criticism.

If you take a walk today, wherever you are, listen to the noises, observe your surrounding and be aware of all that your senses pick up. But just let them be, by all means practice gratitude if you wish for anything that resonates with your heart, but just be. This will encourage a greater peace within, and a calmer mind. Remember meditation is a practice so try to continue to do this every day. #mindfulness
