Beautiful Direction

Beautiful Direction - The mind is very good at finding distractions, especially in a crisis. It’s a coping mechanism for avoiding what’s really going on in our lives, or what we think is going on in our lives.

Fear is a gremlin, it convinces us we are vulnerable. So we find distractions to avoid confronting our fears, and these distractions can end up being worm holes leading nowhere. Then we have to come back and face the fear any way.

Right now there is fear all around us, uncertainty of our future, the threats of getting sick, losing our jobs, losing our ability to cope, losing each other, ultimately losing control.

What is important, is to stay grounded, to keep in your own lane and don’t be distracted. Don’t focus your energy on what others are doing wrong, focus on what you’re doing right.

Limit the news you’re watching, we live in a world where we are bombarded with opinion and some terrifying fake news. Getting angry or upset is wasting your precious energy, which could be used for much more important things, like staying healthy.

Fear is bringing out changes in people’s behaviour too. Be there for them but look after yourself first, people process things at different paces. Let them figure it out, but don’t get in their lane, stay in your own.

Be compassionate but remember self respect and self love. Often, when we stop rescuing, it’s only then that change takes place.

Look after yourself and limit as many fears as you can. Absorb yourself in good things, such as music, happy movies, healthy nurturing food, a good book, a walk in nature, a new project etc.

Yes, spread love but take care of yourself too. When something upsets you or frightens you, stop for a moment and ask yourself, if it’s worth disrupting your peace and mental well-being. If it’s out of your control, is it worth putting that stress on your health?

Bring your self into the present moment, one day at a time, or even one minute at a time. But keep checking you’re in your lane, and give only to those who respect you for being you. This way you will survive and be a better person for yourself and others. #stayinyourownlane
