Beautiful Now
Beautiful Now - It’s very easy to allow our minds to drift. Most of the time we are either looking forward, hoping for a better future or a goal we are striving towards. Or dwelling on the past, holding on to memories of better times, or still trying to make sense of unhappier ones.
Living in the present moment seems such a challenge, yet the more we practice it, our lives won’t just pass us by. It will also allow us to be more creative as we focus more energy in what we do in the here and now.
In this very moment, not five years ago, 5 months ago or even 5 minutes ago, but right now.....what do you notice and feel?
Draw your attention to what is happening right now. Consider some of the positives of this very moment. The simple stuff, for example, are you warm, do you have a roof over your head, do you have food available to you, and do you have the freedom to think freely?
Imagine your life as a movie reel. Frame by frame, running in front of your eyes. As each second passes, another frame becomes the past, and a new frame is about to happen. Now imagine pressing pause between the two frames. Just sit and be, breathe deeply and let go of the importance of all that has been and all that will be. Sit in the now.
You may think that fast forwarding your life would be the best thing right now, especially given the current circumstances. But your thoughts will still be there and your mind will always be chasing a dream, no matter where you are in life. Actually, now is a good time to practice being in the present moment. Practice being awake, really notice your surroundings, listen to the sounds. Take more notice of nature, the objects in your home, the movements and behaviour of everything and everyone. Look at life with more wonder and you will feel more alive.
