Beautiful Positivity - Did you know that optimism can have a positive outcome on our health?
It’s no secret that negative feelings and stress, are making people sick. Consistently being in a state of fight or flight, exhausts our body’s immune system and causes illnesses such as diabetes and dementia.
On the other hand scientist Jo Marchant writes “Realism can be bad for your health. Optimists recover better from medical procedures such as coronary bypass surgery, have healthier immune systems and live longer, both in general and when suffering from conditions such as cancer, heart disease and kidney failure.” Optimism reduces stress, induces the “rest and digest” state of being (opposite to fight or flight) and begins to heal the mind and the body.
Meditation has been proven to lower cortisol levels, aid in healing and sleep and even reverse the signs of ageing.
