Keep On Moving
At this time of year, with the holidays behind us we are all feeling a bit sluggish. It feels like I haven’t stopped partying for months, although though my energy levels are definitely not what they used to be.
In 2018, I am embracing more exercise, but for me that means embracing exercise that I love and that’s not going to the gym! As we get older exercise is vital for our bodies and our minds. Pick something you actually like and you are more likely to stick to it. If it’s a brisk walk, a swim, Pilates, Yoga or a great dance class, just go for it and enjoy! As we age we need to protect our joints, our hearts and keep our weight in check as the pounds seem to add up, at least mine do. We also loose testosterone through menopause and so bear in mind resistance exercises to build muscle can increase that hormone, and will protect our bones.
Our sleep patterns will also benefit which is essential for your mood too.
Personally, I love Pilates as it’s been hugely beneficial for my back, and Lizzie loves a good walk with her dog Woody. But no matter how old we get we will always love good dance even it’s not every Saturday night any more.
